Breathing Through It
with Miles on Substack
Breathing Through It is a community for people who know, or intuit, that meditation holds something big (potentially something very big) for their lives and the world and want a straightforward, grounded way to practice. This is for people who want to build a long-term relationship with their breath and their body, a relationship not rooted in hacks, control or optimization, but rather in deep, skillful listening.
Regularly I share another articles exploring how the simple but mighty practice of mindfulness of breathing touches into what most matters inside and out. From attention, embodiment, self-compassion, and emotional-regulation to relationships, compassion for others, and getting things done, there’s little that mindfulness of breathing can’t help make better. If you stick around, expect to develop a practice you can bring with you everywhere you go as a constant companion supporting with…
• Nervous system regulation
• Intimacy with yourself and others
• Clarity of mind and action
• Deeper connection to your body
• A centered core even amidst chaos
Sometimes more technical, sometimes, more lyrical, always with the intent to inspire and clarify, the intent to help keep you moving forward, step by step, breath by breath, on a path without end.
Substack is the place to stay connected with my work as it continues to unfold.
On my old stoop in Fort Green, Brooklyn
I started Breathing Through It because I got tired of friends and clients coming to me with questions, problems, fears, and hopes, that I imagined would actually be best investigated and resolved through rolling up their sleeves and learning to attend to their breath. I wanted a place where people could be inspired and supported in falling in love with mindfulness of breathing and figuring out for themselves, from the inside out, what this ancient practice can do for them.
Breathing Through It is my way of encouraging and nurturing a culture of earnest, sustained practice where people have the space and structure to travel as far as they want down a path of greater calmness, kindness, and clarity within themselves and powerful, effective action in the world.
